Renee Gore serves as the Assistant Chief Information Officer, Food and Nutrition Service from December 7, 2020, to present. Prior to this selection, Renee was the Deputy Assistant Chief Information Officer for the Marketing and Regulatory Programs, U. S. Department of Agriculture with more than 25 years’ experience in the technology field and 20 years in the federal government. She is a strategic leader with proven performance in team building, directing government units, information technology, and management activities. Her technology experience is vast, with expertise in Applications Development, Program Management, Project Management, Database Administration, Data Administration, and Systems Administration.
As the Assistant CIO, USDA, Food and Nutrition Service, she has led the reinvention and enhancement of IT support processes for the Office of Information Technology by meeting the challenge to lead change and build coalitions while sustaining ongoing operations, implementing processes, and rebuilding the organization following the moving of staff to centralize end user support services. She exhibits vision and strategic thinking as an executive leader for the alignment of IT initiatives to mission area strategic goals and leverages diversity to accomplish the mission in support of a $220 million IT portfolio. Renee was previously the Deputy Assistant CIO, Marketing and Regulatory Programs, USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), leading multiple initiatives where the business and technology requirements merged to stimulate change, test leadership abilities, and build flexibility for transformation while achieving results. She successfully meets the challenge of analyzing, planning and executing the tasks to meet the IT requirements and accomplish the mission.
Renee is a veteran with more than 30 years in the Army with a dual career in the Army National Guard as well as the federal government. She is a retired Colonel from the District of Columbia (D.C.) Army National Guard with experience as Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander, and Strategic Operations Officer. Renee retired in December 2022, following 36 years of service. In her long career, she led numerous missions to assist the Commanding General in accomplishing his responsibilities for the strategic direction of the D.C. National Guard forces, their operation under unified command, and their integration into an efficient team of land and air forces.
Renee’s education consists of a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Master of Science in Information Technology Systems from Johns Hopkins University and Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Columbus State University. She completed both the USDA SES Candidate Development Program and Leadership for a Democratic Society Certificate at the Federal Executive Institute as well as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). Also, Renee was awarded the USDA Secretary’s Award for Civil Rights, AMS Administrator’s Award for Superior Service, and AMS Poultry Program’s Deputy Administrator’s Award for Performance.
